In October, our team gathered once again for the annual Wisconsin Tribal Transportation Conference (WTTC), held this year in Oneida at the Oneida Hotel and Casino. It was a milestone event, marking the 20th annual conference, and the theme “20 Years of Enhancing Partnerships” was present in every part of the experience.

From the moment attendees arrived, there was a clear sense of celebration and reflection on how far we have come. Leaders and speakers joined us from Oneida’s Council, the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), the United States Department of Transportation, and the University of Wisconsin.

The conference offered a full schedule of breakout sessions focused on a variety of transportation topics as well as key Tribal interests. The hallways were filled with conversation and connection as participants moved between sessions, sharing ideas, expertise, and stories.

We closed the event with an award ceremony that recognized individuals whose commitment and hard work have strengthened partnerships between WisDOT and Tribal communities. It was a meaningful way to honor the efforts that continue to move us forward.

This year’s WTTC was more than a conference. It was a celebration of collaboration, growth, and the relationships that have supported twenty years of shared work, with even more progress to look forward to in the future.
